Loving our Level takes place on Saturday 14 June from 10am to 6pm.

Organised with The Level Communities Forum, it will be a fun-filled day of free entertainment for all, including live bands and music performances, sports and games, children’s activities, arts and crafts, community stalls, great food and drink, and the Resident Involvement Hub.  Download a poster with more information about the Loving Our Level event [pdf 1.07mb.]

  • TV’s ‘The Great Allotment Challenge’ semi-finalists Pete Taylor and Gary Murdock will join some special Gardeners’ Q&A sessions, hosted by horticultural expert Jean Griffin, at the event (1 to 1.30pm and 2 to 2.30pm.) Why not send in your gardening questions, and our experts will give you some answers. Or come along on the day and ask in person. Email parksprojects@brighton-hove.gov.uk .
  • History and Heritage-themed Healthwalk - Join our trained Healthwalks leaders for a special walk, plus the opportunity to take part in a Level-themed quiz with prizes, at 1pm.   View and download a poster here [PDF 1.097kb].

Other events

Dads’ Day – Come along on Saturday 7 June, 11am-4pm for a family event celebrating men’s roles in their children’s lives. The day is presented by Dads Connect, the council’s Play service and Brighton and Hove Parents Forum.

Healthwalks – Trained leaders host walks every Thursday and the fourth Sunday each month at 11am, from the Loving Hut cafe. View and download our Level walk poster (PDF 326kb).

Play on The Level – Regular sessions run on Saturdays, 11am-1pm.

Communities and volunteering opportunities

The Level Communities Forum (LCF) – The LCF is looking for additional members to help guide and shape The Level’s future. Everyone welcome, please email thelevelcommunitiesforum@gmail.com

Community volunteer – Volunteer as part of our activities programme, we have opportunities for everyone.

Gardening at The Level – We hope to start volunteer gardening clubs in late June/early July. If you haven’t already registered interest, contact us or find out more about volunteering at The Level.

Community Rooms - If you’d like to hire one of the community spaces (MacLaren or Elm) in the restored pavilions, contact sports.bookings@brighton-hove.gov.uk or on (01273) 292704. We cannot hire the rooms at weekends or after 3.30pm weekdays. View the room layouts (PDF 736kb).

The Level, new playground- paths, a bench, climbing frames and animal statues

Play Pétanque – Bring your boules (bowls) and have a game on the pétanque area in the south of the park

Playground - Find out more about the popular playground’s equipment and meet our flock of wooden sheep and shark

Visit our community artist-designed artwork - In the central circle where the paths meet. Have a chess game on the picnic tabletop chessboards by the pétanque area. Bring your own chess pieces until we have some to borrow (we expect this to be from the end of June 2014). If you’d like to start a Level chess club, or other board game social clubs, contact us.

New skatepark – Details of the project which replaced the old skatepark​.

Police officers – Officers are based at the community hub in the Hornbeam room in The Level’s eastern pavilion, 10-11am and 6-7pm daily (Sundays 10-11am only.) They also use the hub and patrol in the area in addition to these times.
