The new Brighton & Hove Independent website was built using WordPress by Pragmatic Web, the Brighton-based WordPress specialists.

WordPress is a world-leading open-source content management system (CMS) that is used by more than one in five websites (22.5%) – and six in 10 websites that use a CMS.

Why are so many sites being built on WordPress? It could be because it is open source, which means the software is constantly being improved and updated by thousands of developers all over the world. Maybe, it is because anyone with an internet connection and a computer can use it, which opens up the internet for everyone. Or, most probably, it is because it is has thousands of different uses – from simple personal blogging to massive multi-user social networks.

Pragmatic Web offers the full website service from content and design, through to bespoke development and optimisation.

Recent projects include the custom Buddy Press build Join In, and the BlinkBox Blog.

It is an exciting time for Pragmatic Web, which is looking for developers to join its team. It is also always on the look-out for interesting and challenging projects that showcase the power of WordPress.
