The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning as the forecast for tonight and tomorrow is predicting more exceptionally heavy thunderstorms. These will be accompanied by high winds and hail.

The storms overnight are forecast to clear the city by about 6am. Then, as temperatures rise again on Saturday afternoon, this will set off another band of thunderstorms.

There is a possibility of some surface water flooding and power cuts. Any power issues can be reported to UK Power Networks.

The rough sleepers’ team is opening an emergency shelter this evening.

As the warm weather and high humidity continues, you can get advice on how to stay safe in the heat and summer health from the NHS.
